Industry

One of In-No-Plastic’s goals is to support the application of innovative technologies for the removal of marine litter, plastic recycling and circular economy processes in the broad industrial environment. We therefore strive to establish cooperation with industrial stakeholders and private sector representatives who might be interested in joining our efforts and vision.

ArcelorMittal, DOW, and EDF as In-No-Plastic partners and major global industrial players, may pave the way for the testing and replication of our solutions at a worldwide scale. The innovation potential within In-No-Plastic is high, and the solutions are scalable. We welcome industries to both foster and benefit from an increasing market for plastic pollution reduction and remediation technologies.

Economic impact

Economic impact

Based on research from Deloitte, the latest data for overall expense in cleaning up marine debris, combined from 87 coastal countries, sums up to a range between US$6 billion to US$19 billion. A successful reduction in marine debris will have significantly beneficial economic impact.

Within In-No-Plastic the approaches taken will make a strong contribution in reducing these costs:

  1. the SMART app ensures effective clean-up, as a result of big data processing to improve instructions towards hand-pickers, locating hot spots and sources, leading to the creation of its own blue economy
  2. beach clean-ups by an autonomous robot that can be done with minimal costs considering the robot will have its own PV station as well as high level of autonomy
  3. utilizing our industrial Cooling Water Systems (CWS) both along the sea and at the source of plastics entering our sea, our rivers

Market replication

Market replication

Different business models are available to scale up smart software platform and the Empower app. Expenditures like investment, maintenance and consumables, and incomes, such as plastic valorization, lower emission limits on cooling water, effects on blue economy due to more effective clean-up and many other, influence the overall result and application.

We will investigate private-public funding schemes to finance the solution at sea, harbour or at industrial sites. Large cooling water users will be inclined to finance initiatives in exchange for continued abstraction. The financial mechanisms can also be implemented as software modules within the software platform tool, allowing stakeholders to assess the adoptability of different clean-up solutions. In In-No-Plastic, we are convinced that SepaRaptor has economic viability for it can be implemented in different applications like effluent wastewater treatment, washing machines, desalination plants etc., providing a viable business case for the application.
